Liquid fats
From 2024, there is also a legal requirement to collect liquid fats for biological treatment, in our case anaerobic digestion. Examples of such fats are frying oils, excess frying fat and other cooking oil that is left over from food preparation. Pour this fat into a container such as a PET bottle or an old milk carton with a screw cap. When the container is full, take it to your nearest recycling centre and pour the contents into a tank at the designated place. If there is only a small amount of fat, the easiest way is to wipe it off with kitchen roll, which you then discard in the food waste bag.
